On Sunday, May 27th, 2018, from noon until 3, I and my family are opening our home to all the wonderful people who’ve helped to make Woodway Holistic Esthetics such a great success. I’d like to take a moment here to tell you what your support has meant to me throughout the years.
When I decided to become an esthetician many of my friends expressed disbelief, referring to the movie Grease and reminding me of the stereotypical beauty school student. “Why would you want to do that?” I was asked more than once.
I admit that I had reservations of my own, because there is a prejudice against people who make beauty their business. Generally, we’re considered to be a bit simple. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth.
Those of us who make esthetics our careers come from a place of caring. We love people, and we like to make them happy. That’s the spirit in which I joined the ranks of beauty pros, and it’s where I’ve remained during my career. There’s nothing simple about it.
Throughout the years, I’ve been presented with many challenging skin care issues at The Woodway. Those challenges have kept things interesting. They’ve prompted me to dig in and do research, and, if you know me at all, you know how I love to do that!
As is often the case, every time I learn something I realize how little I know. That leads to further research. It’s never-ending, and I love it!
Working with lots of different individuals is so much fun and so rewarding, too. Thank you, each of you, for trusting me to care for you. I feel honoured. Really, I do.
Today, someone who was thoroughly enjoying a full-body facial, asked me, “What do you do if you don’t feel like doing this, Heather? How do you fake it?”
I never fake it. I don’t need to, because I really love what I’m doing, and whenever I step inside “the spa” I immediately feel relaxed and happy. People who visit me are generally in a good mood, because they know they’re going to spend a little time being looked after. And who doesn’t enjoy that?
So, thank you, very much, for helping to make my life a lovely one. They say if you enjoy what you do you never work a day in your life. Lucky me! Ten years of employment and not a day’s work! 😉
I look forward to seeing you soon at The Woodway, and I hope I’ll see you on May 27th at the party. Thanks, everyone!
